DOI: 10.1177/0142064X0302500401 Through a Screen Darkly: Digital Texts and the New TestamentDepartment of Theology, Centre for the Editing of Texts in Religion, The University of Birmingham, Birmingham B29 6LQ The use of computers in textual study of the New Testament is revolutionizing textual scholarship, and is about to lead to major changes in other branches of New Testament study. The current revolution is studied with regard to (1) the concept of the text within the computer, (2) the study of manuscripts and (3) the task of producing an edition of the New Testament (or of any other book). Projects illustrating current developments are the Principio Project, the Byzantine Text Edition, and the digital Nestle-Aland.
